Segovia

El Alcázar
The Alcázar of Segovia is located at the confluence of the rivers Clamores and Eresma, and is adapted to the rock on which it rises, forming more or less a rectangle ending in a point, like the prow of a great ship.
El Acueducto
The Segovia Aqueduct is one of the most impressive engineering works of the Roman period. It was built to transport water from the river Acebeda, which originates in the Sierra de la Fuenfría, to the upper part of the city of Segovia.
La Muralla
The most probable origin of the walls of Segovia dates back to the end of the Roman Empire, when the city may have been fortified, giving rise to the first outline of the current walled enclosure, which dates back to the time of the Christian reconquest of Segovia by Alfonso VI at the end of the 11th century. Later, during the 16th and 17th centuries, as it lost its original defensive function, elements were added such as houses attached to its walls and the gates and shutters lost their purpose when the rights of portazgo were abolished.
